Alysha Creighton: Wound Series |

The imagery for these studies was derived from discarded objects that I collected while walking the streets of Phnom Penh. I was attracted to the weathered and worn artifacts that seemed to have a bodily, human quality. The gaping holes and cracks in these banal, discarded objects suggest wounds. I am fascinated by the way wounds disrupt the usually delineated boundaries of the interior and exterior, revealing the fragility and tenuousness of these boundaries. They signify rupture and point to the brokenness and healing that always exist simultaneously. |
